Track 1 || Translation index ||  Part 2

Tsubasa: Daaai!

Dai: Oh, Tsubasa.

Tsubasa: Sorry for making you wait, Dai-chan.

Dai: Don’t take my earphone. And don’t call me Dai-chan.

Tsubasa: Ow! You’re so cold~ I did it because you won’t notice me at all!

Dai: Wave your hands in front of me, or something.

Tsubasa: Nah! If I do this, you’ll look at me, right, Dai? I don’t like having to wait for a long time.

Dai: What the hell is that.

Tsubasa: What were you listening to? Classic? Lyadov? Stravinski? Or maybe something major like Dvorak?

Dai: Why are you only mentioning those? Anyway, you aren’t really interested in music right?

Tsubasa: It’s not that I’m not interested. I do have interest in the music you listen to~

Dai: … Dvorak.

Tsubasa: I got it right~

Dai: Yeah, yeah.

Tsubasa: Can I decide where do we go today?

Dai: Wherever you want. I leave it to you.

Tsubasa: Roger! You’re in a good mood today, eh?

Dai: Not really?

Tsubasa: Hm~?

Dai: … what?

Tsubasa: Nothing, I was thinking that I’m glad I invited you.

Dai: It’s a bother for me.

Tsubasa: It’s a bother but you’ll come anyway.

Dai: I have nothing else to do. Heck, it’s because you’re so insistent. Stop spamming me on Line.

Tsubasa: It’s because you won’t answer me at all! It’s like, wanting to chase those who run away from you?

Dai: What’s that? Aren’t you the one who doesn’t have enough time to be hanging out with me?

Tsubasa: Well, I won’t deny I’m attending all my classes and I do go out with some friends.

Dai: Oh really.

Tsubasa: But honestly, I thought being a university student would be more hectic? Guess if I accepted all the invitations I got, I would get busy, though.

Dai: You don’t?

Tsubasa: Hmm~ I’m not that cheap.

Dai: Is that so.

Tsubasa: By the way, you don’t have any intention to go to university anymore, Dai?

Dai: Nope.

Tsubasa: Now that you even got in with a recommendation, dropping out is such a waste! I’m sure your mom is… not crying, I guess. Aki-san is even more open-hearted than you, and so cool! Bet she’d say her usual line.

Dai: You got it. She said it, today when I left too.

Dai & Tsubasa: Your own responsibility.

Tsubasa: *laughs* Aki-san is so cool! She’s the best. Don’t ever make her cry!

Dai: I won’t. And don’t call someone’s mom by her name, you womanizer.

Tsubasa: Don’t get jealous! Aki-san herself said she liked it better this way.

… How’s your shoulder?

Dai: As usual.

Tsubasa: I see. That’s good. You can live a normal life without any difficulties, right? Life’s long, so switch gears and move on! The doctor told you not to swim, and you understand it’s impossible too, right?

Dai: You could hold back a little when saying things like that. You’ll lose all your friends.

Tsubasa: Depends on who I’m talking to.

Dai: I’m not sure if that’s good or bad… Does that mean that if it’s me, you can say anything you want?

Tsubasa: It’s not that! If it’s you, I know you’ll properly listen to me… Trust, I guess?

Dai: You’re a fine one to say that.

Tsubasa: Isn’t it hard to be always thinking about a desperate possibility? If it were me, I’d forget it ASAP.

Dai: If I could forget it so easily I wouldn’t go through so many troubles.

Tsubasa: Meaning you haven’t given up yet?

Dai: It’s not that. I do have some regrets, but I’ve given up long ago. It’s just…

Tsubasa: It’s just?

Dai: That I don’t know how to make up for all the time I’ve been swimming. There’s nothing else to do in a university I got in for swimming.

Tsubasa: You’re so diligent~ Oh, why don’t you get into my university then? I’m there too~

Dai: How can I get into a university with such a huge standard score, idiot?

Tsubasa: You can do it if you try!

Dai: I hope you get stabbed by all the examinees of the country.

Tsubasa: *laughs* So mean~

Dai: Don’t say “you can do it if you try” so easily.

Tsubasa: It’s because I can do that… I’ll say it because it’s you, but honestly, I haven’t really made any efforts nor had any troubles in my life.

Dai: You… you’ll get stabbed for real someday.

Tsubasa: I’m good at making a living too, so I’ll be okay~

Dai: *sigh*

Tsubasa: Since long ago, I’ve been saying that I couldn’t win against others, but I was just bragging of my own misfortune.

Dai: Oh, really.

Tsubasa: But, it’s like… unsatisfying…

Dai: You wish for too much.

Tsubasa: I guess?

(05:17)

Rikka: I know I invited you out of the blue, but thanks for making time for me. Were you really okay? You’re incredibly busy, as always, right?

Shiki: If it was impossible I’d have refused. It’s been a while since I last met you, and I just needed a breather.

Rikka: Then it’s okay, but… to bump into each other in such a crowded place like Shibuya… I guess coincidences do exist. And with this timing, too.

Shiki: Timing?

Rikka: Lately I’ve been wondering how you were doing. The other day I heard one of the songs you made… umm… that one that’s a tie-up with a drama that airs next season?

Shiki: Ah, that one.

(background) Tsubasa: Master, can we sit at the counter?

Rikka: You don’t look too happy. It seems like a big project…?

(background) Master: Oh, Tsubasa. Welcome. No followers today, only Dai and you?

Shiki: Big or small doesn’t matter, it’s just another work.

Rikka: You’re so cool, as always.

Shiki: And you?

Rikka: I… well, as always. My agency gets me work, centred on stills.

Shiki: What about TV?

Rikka: Not at all! I’m not appearing.

Shiki: But I’m sure you get offers. Sometimes I’ve been asked get them through.

Rikka: I think these kinds of things are too big for me…

Shiki: Hm. You’re as modest as always, too. Even though your appearance is indeed flashy.

Rikka: Flashy…? You’re so mean.

Shiki: I’m saying that the inside is not like that. Besides, having a flashy appearance is another talent, since you’re a model.

Rikka: *laughs* Thank you. Your new song was really cool. I like it! It’s speedy, and the chorus is very catchy. Neat, is what they call it? It’s a song appropriate for a drama.

Shiki: That was the order.

Rikka: According to the order, and it’s still very Shiki-like. It makes me think you’re really a pro, and I admire you. But, you were more passionate during the time when you sang too. When I met you, I felt you had a very powerful impact. The fact that I felt you were a bit stiff might have been towards you, and not your songs.

Shiki: I think I’ve become more skilful than my past self. I only knew to push my fixations on others. Much more than then, now…

Rikka: I see…

Shiki: Getting away from the idol front and turning to song writing… I still think it’s the correct decision. I don’t have any regrets. There are people who want my music, and there’s a sense of accomplishment. It’s worth doing, and it’s rewarding. Of course, I can’t do it freely, but that’s work after all. There’s no job where someone can do as they please.

Rikka: Oh, I see… is it really like that…?

Shiki: Hm?

Rikka: I thought it was strange. Until now, your songs have been playing here and there… I wonder why I heard it now? I think it’s because I’m also kind of lost.

Shiki: Oh, so even you hesitate sometimes?

Rikka: Actually, I was thinking of leaving the entertainment industry. Retire, and become a civil servant.

Shiki: Rikka…

Rikka: I started this job because others wanted it, but I think I’ve tried doing my best. I also think I’m blessed, appearance-wise. But I get the feeling, like “maybe it doesn’t have to be like this”. I can’t really put it into words, and if you ask me “then, where are you going now?” I won’t know what to say… It’s so difficult. That’s why I’m, too, selfish, extravagant, and a coward.

Shiki: We’re the same.

Rikka: Ah, I’m sorry. I cut your talk, and ended up talking about myself…

Shiki: Don’t worry. We’re in the same boat. *drinks* Hey, what you said just now…

Rikka: Just now?

Shiki: About how you liked my songs.

Rikka: Oh! Yep, I do, of course. Shiki, you know I won’t flatter you, because I don’t want you to hate me.

Shiki: Rikka, if you really want to stop being a model, I have something to ask you.

Rikka: What, all of a sudden?

Shiki: I still haven’t made up my mind. But, will you listen to me?

Rikka: Of course. If I’m good enough.

Shiki: Some time ago, the president told me to “try attacking”, and he also told me this. “Try to produce a new unit. I’ll leave genre, members, and individuality to you, so why don’t you do as you like with your music again”, he said.

Rikka: Wow, that’s amazing! And the resolution is good, too. As usual, the Tsukino Pro president does such interesting things!

Shiki: But, I don’t know what to do.

Rikka: Why?

Shiki: I guess that age-wise, this is my last chance. If I’m successful it will open a path, but if I fail, there’s no third opportunity. It will affect my career from now on. Moreover, as you know, I’ve failed terribly in the past when it comes to units.

Rikka: Then, at least this time, try not to make the same mistake again?

Shiki: You’re making it sound very easy.

Rikka: Of course, I’m sure producing will be a very hard job. But it doesn’t sound that difficult to me. You like music and songs, right?

Shiki: Like, huh…? Now that you say it, I’m not sure. Probably it’s more like… something common… like air. Even if it tastes good or bad, as long as you’re alive, you have no choice but to breathe.

Rikka: If you’re not constantly surrounded by it you’d die… Do you understand that’s something much more passionate than just “like”?

Shiki: I know it’s contradictory. But I’m a coward, so that won’t be enough reason. Where I am now, I can go on without failing too much, and without being humiliated. That’s why, I’m hesitating.

Rikka: No one wants to make mistakes. If you get injured, it hurts, and if you get laughed at, it’s painful. If you’re satisfied now, I don’t think it’s embarrassing wanting to go on avoiding it. You said it, right? That you can’t make up your mind.

Shiki: Yeah.

Rikka: Then, I’ll deliberately push your back. I want to hear again the free music you can make.

Shiki: Rikka…

Rikka: Didn’t you talk to me because you knew I would say that? Well, maybe I’m being too pretentious if I say that?

Shiki: No, it’s exactly like that. I think I just wanted someone who I trust to tell me “it’s okay”.

Rikka: If by any chance you fail, you can blame it on me. If you think that, you’ll feel more at ease, right? But I’m absolutely sure it will be a success, so guess it won’t be necessary. *laughs*

Shiki: If you say so… Rikka, won’t you do it with me?

Rikka: With you…?

Shiki: If it’s with you, I get the feeling I can do it well. Even if our views clash, we can talk to each other heart to heart. I want to make music with someone like that.

Rikka: I’m happy you told me that, but is there anything can I help with…?

Shiki: Would you like to try singing?

Rikka: Me?!

Shiki: Yes.

Rikka: W-Wait a moment, I’ve never…?!

Shiki: You have a nice voice, I guarantee it.

Rikka: That’s… the first time I hear that…

Shiki: It’s the first time I say it. I didn’t think it was necessary to say it to a model.

Rikka: You’re joking…

Shiki: Do I look like I’m joking or saying empty compliments?

Rikka: Not at all…

Shiki: Someone else will teach you the technique. Other than that, it depends on you.

Rikka: … are you serious?

Shiki: At least, I think it suits you way more than becoming a civil servant and sitting behind a counter.

Rikka: Oh, dear…

Shiki: Are you not convinced?

Rikka: No, it’s not that… I’m very happy you praised me, but if it’s about me… I couldn’t really take it in… Sorry, can I go get some water?

Shiki: Sure.

Rikka: Excuse me, can I have some water?

Master: Of course. One glass is enough?

(background) Dai: Toilet.

(background) Tsubasa: At the end of that hallway, to the right. Want to go together?

Rikka: Thank you. Then, two of them, please.

(background) Dai: Idiot. Don’t follow me.

*Dai and Rikka bump into each other* (16:40)

Rikka: Ah! I’m so sorry! Are you okay?

Dai: It’s nothing.

Rikka: If you’d like, use this handkerchief…

Dai: It’s okay, I don’t need it.

Rikka: But…!

Dai: I said it’s okay.

Tsubasa: I’m sorry, mister. He doesn’t have any ill will, but he’s kind of blunt…

Rikka: No, it was me who was careless. I was deep in thought…

Tsubasa: Mister, are you from the (entertainment) industry?

Rikka: Eh?

Tsubasa: I was thinking you had a very beautiful face, and sometimes I see people who look like entertainers here, and that’s why.

Rikka: I see…

Tsubasa: Was I right?

Rikka: Well… half-right?

Tsubasa: Half? Ah, by any chance, did I ask too much?

Rikka: Not at all. And you? Are you one of us, too?

Tsubasa: As if! I’m just a student.

Rikka: Hm~ Surprising.

Tsubasa: I get that a lot.

Rikka: *laughs* You’re so honest.

Shiki: What’s wrong?

Rikka: Ah, uhm, just…

Shiki: If it’s someone you know, you don’t have to hold back for me.

Rikka: No, no. I bumped into his friend carrying the glass, and I was apologizing.

Tsubasa: Is this person your companion?

Rikka: Yes.

Tsubasa: I see~ He’s totally a different type, but he’s very good looking too. Someone from the same industry?

Rikka: Ah, no… How should I put it…? We met because of work, but now we’re just friends.

Shiki: Master, order. A sidecar.

Tsubasa: Oh, same as me! Do you like brandy?

Shiki: What an over-familiar guy.

Tsubasa: Say friendly!

Shiki: Cheeky.

Tsubasa: Ahhh, he’s so hard! Hey mister, is he always like this?

Rikka: No, not at all.

Shiki: Don’t listen to him.

Rikka: I think he liked you quite a lot.

Shiki: Huh?

Tsubasa: Eh? With this attitude?

Rikka: It’s the first time I see him talk in such a familiar way with someone he just met.

Shiki: Don’t be silly.

Tsubasa: Do you call this… familiar? Aren’t you confusing it with harsh?

Shiki: I don’t have the obligation to be polite to someone rude. *walks away*

Tsubasa: … I’m shocked. It’s the first time in my life someone has hated me so fast.

Rikka: He doesn’t hate you, it’s okay.

Tsubasa: Like that?

Rikka: Yep, like that.

Tsubasa: Oh, Dai, welcome back. Are you refreshed?

Dai: Idiot.

Rikka: I’m sorry for what happened earlier.

Dai: I said it’s okay. Anyway, what are you doing?

Tsubasa: A bit of communication.

Dai: I didn’t ask you.

Rikka: Well then, if you’d excuse me. Sorry for the trouble.

TL notes:

IT’S FINALLY HERE. I’M SO SORRY FOR THE WAIT!!!

There are some sentences that sound a bit awkward but don’t really mind them…

I put some minute count along the translation as a guide because it is a really long track, hope it helps~

As an anecdote, I’ll tell you that Tsubasa’s seiyuu Saitou Souma mentioned the sidecar cocktail in Tsukipro’s TV program “Tsukipro channel”as “the cocktail of Shiki and Tsubasa’s meeting”. The first drama CD came out more than a year ago but he still remembered <3

Thanks again to the lovely Sarah for proofreading this ridiculously long track <3

If you spot any mistake or something please tell me!!! And remember to support the artists buying the CDs, it is so important!!!

Thank you for reading!!
